Description
The CLEAN ION continuous wrist strap monitor model WSA-1, provides constant monitoring of ESD grounding as well as that of the integrity of two operators wrist straps all simultaneously. This unit incorporates independent circuitry so that the effective monitoring of one operator is remote from the other. Any conventional single wrist strap can be monitored by this cost effective device that measures the capacitive load of the wrist bands and operators, therefore eliminates the need for expensive two wire cords or special wrist bands. The WSA-1 is a device, which instantly alerts an operator of either a failed wrist strap or coil cord with an audible and visible alarm. The monitor also verifies a good electrical discharge path from the wearer's body to the ground. Easy to use. The monitor is drift-free whereby squeezing or stretching the wrist strap coil has no effect on the monitor. The WSA-1 is powered by a 9V DC adaptor.

Installation
The CLEAN ION continuous wrist strap monitor WSA-1 set also includes the following: 9V DC adaptor 1 pc Grounding cord, with absent operator flying lead connection cord 1 pc The unit is designed to be either mounted under the workstation, or conveniently mounted at eye level in front of the operator. Picture 1 shows the connected unit.

Operation
1. Plug the D.C. adaptor into a VAC outlet and connect the mini jack on the adaptor into the monitor marked `9V D.C.
2. Plug one end of grounding cord attached with a single banana plug into monitor marked earth.
3. Connect or clip the other end of grounding cord with the `two headed banana plug` (or alligator clips) to ground. The other banana plug (or alligator clip) is connected to the flying lead to close the circuit should one of the operators be absent from the workstation.
4. Activate the monitor with the red switch marked `On` - `Off`. The red `Fault` LED should flash and the alarm should beep.
5. Plug both wrist strap banana plugs into both ports of the monitor marked strap and operators should then immediately put on their wrist bands. This should automatically turn off the alarm and the flashing red `Fault` LED will change to `In use` LED.If the alarm still beeps, check connection of coil cord strap on wrist strap for continuity, wrist strap is securely fitted on operator's wrist and wrist strap banana plugs are fully inserted into monitor. Also confirm that the grounding lead is properly earthed.
6. Flexibility. When one of the operators leaves the work station, the operator can either:
(i) Remove the absent operators banana plug from the wrist strap socket and insert the banana plug of the flying lead attached to the earth (ground) connection lead into the wrist strap socket.
.Or (ii) The operator who has become absent from the work station, should remove their wrist band from their arm only, leaving their wrist band ground cord banana plug still connected to the wrist strap port of the device. The alligator clip attached to the flying lead which is connected to the earth grounding cord, can be clipped to the wrist band this again closing the circuit loop.

N.B. Ensure that the alligator clip makes good contact with the conductive inner face of the wrist band.Should both operators vacate the workstation, disarm the whole monitor system by switching the red rocker switch to the off position.
7. Alarm. The alarm is instantly activated once the resistance level exceeds the factory pre-set resistance threshold level as per customer's requirement.
8. Additional safety feature. Unlike conventional resistance based monitors,the Maxclean continuous wrist strap monitor incorporates an internal 1- Meg ohm resistor for additional current limiting protection, in case the typical 1 -Megohm resistor in the strap fails.
